Privacy Statement
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Marble Nations is an app in which you build marble tracks and race with countries. This statement explains which data we use, why, and what your rights are. Marble Nations is made for children aged about 7 to 11. Parents: feel free to read this together with your child.
This is a translation of the Dutch privacy statement. If the two versions differ, the Dutch version applies.
Who are we?
Marble Nations is made by Patrick Roozendaal, the Netherlands. He is responsible for the processing of the data described in this statement. Questions or requests about privacy can be sent to marble.nations@outlook.com.
Playing without an account
You can play Marble Nations without an account. Your tracks then stay only in your own browser on your own device. We receive nothing.
Playing with an account
If you create an account, we store:
- The email address of a parent or guardian and an encrypted password, to log in and to recover a forgotten password. When an account is created, we ask for the email address of a parent or guardian. They receive an email and must first approve the account with the link in it; only then can the child log in.
- A player name that you choose yourself. Other players never see this name; they only see you as a code, such as "Bouwer 1234".
- What you make in the app: your tracks, so that you can find them again on another device.
We only use this data to make the app work. We do not sell anything, show no advertising and use no tracking cookies or analytics services.
Sending in videos for the YouTube channel
Players with an account can send in a recorded race. The administrator of Marble Nations reviews the video. Only after approval is it posted on the Marble Nations YouTube channel. The following applies:
- A video only contains footage of the race in the app, no camera or microphone recordings.
- A video only contains the app's built-in music and sounds.
- The description only shows the anonymous code of the sender, such as "Bouwer 1234". Your player name and email address never appear on YouTube.
- After a video is posted or rejected, we delete it from our storage.
Extra check for parents. For every submission, the app first asks for permission from a parent or guardian. An adult has to type a number written in words as digits and confirm that they are the parent or guardian and give permission. Without this step a video cannot be sent in. We only store the moment this permission was given, together with the submission. The administrator does not post any video without this permission and reviews every video personally before it goes online.
Standing permission. A parent can choose to turn off the check for each video. This is only possible through a link in an email sent to the parent's email address. After that, the child can send in videos themselves; the administrator still reviews all of them. We store the moment the parent gave this standing permission. The parent or the child can always turn the check for each video back on under My account.
Players never get access to the YouTube channel. Only the administrator can post videos.
Feedback
With the 💬 button you can report a problem or share an idea, also without an account. We then store your message, the type of device and browser (so we can find a problem), and whether you were logged in. To prevent too many messages, we store a code derived from your internet connection; we do not store your IP address itself. Only the administrator reads feedback, and deletes it when it is no longer needed. The administrator can answer in the app. With an account, you see the answer in your account; without an account, your device keeps a secret code so the answer can only be seen on that device.
Google access (administrator only)
The app only asks the administrator for access to a Google account, to post videos on the Marble Nations channel. For this we use the permissions "upload videos" and "view channel details". We use this access for nothing else, and we share no Google data with anyone. The use of data from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The administrator can disconnect at any time in the app, or via myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Services we use
- Supabase: stores accounts, tracks and submitted videos.
- Netlify: hosts the website.
- Brevo: sends the emails from Marble Nations, such as approving an account, permission for videos and resetting a password. For this, Brevo only receives the email address and the content of that email.
- Google Fonts and a CDN: provide fonts and software libraries. Your browser connects to their servers for this.
- YouTube (Google): only for approved videos on our channel. On the website marblenations.com we show pictures of our latest videos, which come from YouTube. A video only plays when you click it, via youtube-nocookie.com.
How long do we keep data?
As long as your account exists. If you delete your account (in the app under My account → Delete account), we delete your account and everything that belongs to it. Videos that are already on YouTube can be removed on request via the email address above.
Your rights
You may view, correct or delete your data. You can download a backup of your own data yourself in the app under My account → Download my backup. For other requests, email marble.nations@outlook.com. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the data protection authority in your own country.
For parents
Marble Nations is made for children. An account is created with the email address of a parent or guardian, who approves the account by email. Sending in a video always requires permission from a parent or guardian: for each video, or as standing permission that the parent gives through an email link (see above). We deliberately do not ask for a date of birth or any other extra data about children. Did your child send in a video or create an account without your knowledge? Email us and we will remove the video or the account.
